Three Amish children died on Wednesday after thehorse-drawn buggythey were riding in was involved in a fatal crash on a Michigan highway.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., local authorities responded to a 911 call “reporting a motor vehicle/horse drawn vehicle crash,” according to anews releasefrom the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office.
After arriving at the scene, authorities found that a car had crashed into the rear of the buggy, which was carrying four children, siblings aged 6-13 from a local family.

Three children were killed in Pennsylvania on Monday in a two-vehicle accident involving a horse and buggy, authorities said.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers were dispatched to the scene in Little Britain Township in Lancaster County just before 8 a.m., Tpr. Kevin Kochka of the PSP said in apress release.
The release said a horse and buggy carrying seven “juvenile” occupants was approaching an intersection at Little Britain Road North and Black Road heading west, while a tri-axle trash truck drove south on Little Britain Road North.

Connie Smith was not a typical grandmother.
“She talked about those children with pride,” a family acquaintance tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I didn’t think anything was wrong.”
When police arrived at Smith’s home, they discovered that part of the carpet in the girl’s bedroom was missing. Smith allegedly told them she had removed and burned the rug because the girl had defecated on it.

Three children and three adults were killed during a shooting on Monday morning at a private elementary school in Nashville after a 28-year-old former student opened fire inside the building, a Nashville police spokesman said.
According to a tweet from the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooter has been identified as a 28-year-old from Nashville. Nashville Police Chief John Drake said during a Monday afternoon press conference that the shooter was a former student at The Covenant School.

A statement from Fort Wayne Police alleges the four victims — who’ve yet to be identified — knew their killer.
Cohen Bennett Hancz-Barron, 21, was arrested Wednesday afternoon just after 5 p.m.
Police had identified Hancz-Barron as a suspect in the murders early on and had tracked him to an apartment complex in Lafayette.
The statement says Hancz-Barron is being transported back to Fort Wayne to face four felony murder counts.
