Three people have died after a strong tornado tore through central Oklahoma on Wednesday. TheMcClain County Sheriff’s Officesays the twister touched down west of 260th Street and MacArthur Avenue in Cole around 7:30 p.m. local time. The town saw “the most significant damage,” according to the sheriff’s office. Officials said the storm also tore through the Towns of Dibble, where two people were killed, and Shawnee, where a college campus was damaged.

An Amtrak train carrying over 200 people derailed in Missouri on Monday afternoon while traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago, the company confirmed. The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. near Mendon, Missouri, after the train collided with a truck that “was obstructing a public crossing,” Amtrak said in a statement published on itswebsite. A manhunt is currently underway for the shooter. Austin Police Interim Chief Joseph Chacon identified Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, as the suspect. Broderick is described as a 5 foot, 7 inch tall Black man with an average build, who was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, sunglasses and a baseball cap.

Three people have died after a Listeria outbreak at a burger bar in Washington state.The customers drank milkshakes contaminated with Listeria bacteria at a Frugals burger restaurant in Tacoma.Washington State Department of Healthconfirmed on Aug. 18 that Listeria was found in all of the milkshake flavors at the location. In addition to the three deaths, three other people were hospitalized.“Investigators found Listeria in the ice cream machines, which were not cleaned correctly,” the department wrote in a press release.

Police inspector D.F. Pace said at a news conference that officers were patrolling the area when the shooting broke out, including one who was within 15 yds. of a male suspect firing into a bustling nighttime crowd. The officer fired at that suspect, but it’s unclear whether he was struck, according to Pace, who added that the suspect dropped his gun and fled.
