On July 3, Spalding County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a “man down” on the 100 block of Dobbins Mill Road and found a white male dead on the ground from an apparent gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said in a media release.

According to the outlet, two of the bodies were floating in the water near the toe of Valdez Glacier, while the third body was found on an ice floe. Pierce noted that the three tourists, who were wearing life jackets, are believed to have been inside an inflatable canoe before they died.
