Deputies were called to the scene just before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday after responding to a call placed from a vehicle in the 1300 block of 130th Ave, NBC affiliate news stationKare 11stated. Multiple outlets reported that the 4-year-old allegedly found the firearm in the backseat of the vehicle before shooting their younger sibling.

The boy was the eldest child in the car and told the dispatcher he didn’t know where they were. Through GPS tracking, the dispatcher was able to locate the vehicle at the St. Charles Towne Center. When deputies arrived, they found seven children in the vehicle ranging in age from two to four years old.
