A 4-year-old K9 with the Houston Police Department named Arondied from heat exhaustionafter the engine shut off in the car he was in.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) said in a press release that on Monday, Aron’s K9 handler left him in a patrol vehicle with the air condition running — a common practice in the department if the K9 isn’t engaged in police work.

But after the boy collapsed moments later and went into seizures, then died two days later, authorities diagnosed injuries that they allege pointed toward a homicide, and Embry-Martin was charged with murder.
“Death. It came all too soon for Hunter Payton,” Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Teresa Logsdon said as Embry-Martin’s case went to trial Wednesday in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, reports theCourier Journal.

Investigators believe a 4-year-old boy may have been the sole witness to a murder-suicide inside a Houston hotel room Tuesday night that claimed the lives of his mother and the gunman, PEOPLE confirms.
Police are waiting on the results of autopsies before releasing the names of the individuals whose bodies were discovered shortly after midnight at a Red Roof Inn.
The shooter was 29, according to authorities, and was an active-duty Marine who had been in a relationship with Smith,theHouston Chroniclereports.

A 4-year-old Pennsylvania boy is dead following a tragic accidental shooting, authorities say.
The victim has been identified as Ajani Lane, PEOPLE confirms, and while the incident is still under investigation, police currently believe that the boy shot himself accidentally.
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police announced Tuesday that they will be providing the public with free gun locks while supplies last in an effort to prevent accidental shootings.
