Eleven melon-headed whales were found stranded on a beach on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
According toThe Associated Press, five of the whales have died, including a calf that was found dead about a mile north from the rest of the group, after being found on Sugar Beach in Kihei on Thursday morning.
The four whales were first sedated before being humanely euthanized to prevent further suffering.

Five people were shot and wounded at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Tuesday night, according to authorities.
At around 9:25 p.m., university police “heard discharge and responded to the scene,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said during anews conferenceTuesday after the shooting.
Upon arrival, the Baltimore Police Department discovered five victims with gunshot wounds between the ages of 18 to 22 — four males and one female — with non-life-threatening injuries, Worley said.

What began as a birthday celebration turned to tragedy when five Wyoming family members were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Monday.
Aaron Godines and Halie Everts, engaged high school sweethearts, traveled to Colorado to celebrate his 20th birthday, bringing along their 3-month-old Tessleigh and his parents, according to Fox stationKDVR.
On their way back from Denver, they were rear-ended in a fatal car accident, which none of them survived.

The Ohio family was in for a pleasant surprise on May 11, when Blake walked across the stage at his preschool graduation.
“I cried as soon as I saw him walk out on stage,” Blake’s mother, Megan Mompher, tells PEOPLE. “He’s been through a lot of medical trauma, and to watch him overcome it all and walk so determined on that stage, I’ve never been more proud of him. He’s pretty amazing.
