A 63-year-old North Carolina teacher who was accused of having sex with her 17-year-old student killed her husband before fatally shooting herself, police announced Friday.
Both were found with gunshot wounds to the head.
“We are going with the murder-suicide,” Huntersville Police Department officer Odette Saglimbeni tells PEOPLE. “She was facing some issues.”
Saglimbeni says investigators are still trying to determine a motive.
“Until we can really confirm a motive we don’t really have one at this point,” she says.

The delivery man was returning to his Jeep when Reilly says multiple assailants fired at him at 6:15 p.m. Sunday in what the department is investigating as a carjacking and attempted robbery.
The man was shot in the chest, back and torso and remains in critical condition Tuesday. (Per the department’s policy, victims' names are not released unless they succumb to their injuries, according to Reilly.

The woman was on a paddleboard at New Smyrna Beach around 9 a.m. Friday when the attack happened, NBC affiliateWESHandThe Orlando Sentinelreported, citing Volusia County Beach Safety.
Beach officials told WESH that the woman — whose identity has not been released — was in approximately 8-10 feet of water when the shark suddenly approached and bit her on the foot.
The victim, who claimed that she did not see the shark, suffered lacerations and was later transported to a hospital to be treated, according to the local television outlet.

A 64-year-old woman is dead following a tragic hiking accident in Big Bend National Park, Texas.
The unnamed hiker was walking along the Hot Springs Canyon Trail on Monday when she “collapsed and was unresponsive,” park authorities shared in a release.

An Arizona man had died whileattempting to hike a portion of the Grand Canyon, making him the 10th person to die at the national park this year.
