The medical community is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Sandra Shells, a 70-year-old nurse who “unselfishly dedicated her life to caring for others in their time of need,” died after being attacked while waiting at a bus stop in downtown L.A. on Jan. 13, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a news release.
A man named Kerry Bell, 48, was charged with one count of murder in connection to the crime.

On Friday, deputies from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Seymour home of Debbie Boyd.
There, they found Boyd unresponsive, “suffering from numerous dog bites,” according to a statement.
It was unclear if Boyd and the child are related.
The two dogs are now in the custody of local animal control.

A Pennsylvania veteran is being praised as a hero after officials say he entered a burning home and pulled his neighbor from a fire.
The Norristown Fire Departmentconfirmed the incident in a post on FacebookMonday, calling Marine Corps veteran Jimmy Johnson a “remarkable man” for saving his neighbor’s life.
According to authorities,the fire in Norristownbroke out around 10 a.m. It wasn’t long after that Johnson, 70, noticed there was smoke coming from his neighbor’s home up the street.

After going missing following one of thedeadly wildfires spreading across California this week, a 70-year-old woman and her two great-grandchildrenwere found dead, according to family members.
Once Bledsoe realized the danger her family was in, she called her husband Ed.
“She said, ‘You need to come home right now. The fire’s right next to our house,’” Ed toldCapital Public Radio.
As of Sunday,six liveshave been lost as a result of the deadly blaze, KCRA reported.
