Gwen Goldman, 70, became an honorary bat girl at the Yankees' home game against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday — 60 years after she had asked to serve in the position and was rejected. In addition, the Connecticut native also threw out the ceremonial first pitch as a part of the team’s2021 HOPE Weekinitiative, which aims to shine a light on inspirational people.

Photo: Getty A 70-year-old woman is the fourth person to die at Grand Canyon National Park in a month’s time after falling about 200 feet on Tuesday near the popular Pipe Creek Vista, PEOPLE confirms. The woman, whose name has not been made public, struggled near the rim of the vista point around 1:05 p.m. local time on Tuesday, National Park Service spokesman John Quinley tells PEOPLE. Another park visitor either “saw that she needed help or heard that she needed help” and contacted the authorities.

PEOPLE obtained a copy of the arrest report against Barbara Pinkney of Bradenton. Police were there attempting to execute a search warrant, but allege Pinkney did not make it easy for them. The report alleges Pinkney told the officers the person they were looking for wasn’t inside.

Upon their arrival, animal welfare officials discovered 73 beagles, two of which were sadly already dead, she says.
