An 81-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly attempting to smuggle 92 pounds of heroin across the U.S.-Mexico border.
Officers allege they first encountered the elderly woman, who has been identified as a United States citizen, when she entered the U.S. in a 2011 Chrysler 200 at around 11:30 a.m.
As she made her way across the border, police claim a Customs and Border Protection dog detected something suspicious in her vehicle.

The rescue mission didn’t involve just one needy dog, but 82.According to the RSPCA, the animal welfare organization sent out inspector Herchy Boal after receiving several concerning calls from the authorities about the state of a home in Birmingham, England, that belonged to a recently deceased woman.
“The officers asked us for help with around 30 dogs but I was busy dealing with another emergency elsewhere,” Boal recounted in an RSPCA press release.

At least 82 people are dead after an oxygen tank exploded, leading to a massive fire at a COVID-designated hospital in Iraq, according to multiple reports.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry confirmed the fatal incident on Sunday, explaining that the fire broke out at Ibn al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad on Saturday,CNNandThe New York Timesreported.
Gen. Kadhim Bohan, the head of Iraq’s Civil Defence, said the fire first broke out inside the intensive-care unit, on a floor “designated for pulmonary resuscitation” and where patients with the most severe cases of COVID in Baghdad were being treated, according toBBC News.

An 82-year-old California man has died after his canoe capsized in a Missouri river, causing him to drown, authorities said.
