“She was an MVP star basketball player for [the] PAL basketball team in Houston,” the grieving mother wrote. “She loved making TikTok videos and loved her two sisters.”
Khylie died late Monday after she was shot in the head during an alleged domestic disturbance. Police identified her mother’s ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Jeremiah Jones, as her alleged killer.
Khylie died less than a month before her 10th birthday. Her mother wrote that Khylie was excited to start fifth grade in the fall.

A 9-year-old Florida girl died after apalm tree fell on top of herwhile she was playing outside with friends on Sunday, authorities said.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. after a report of a cardiac arrest in the 6500 block of Marbletree Lane,according to theSun Sentinel.
The girl and a 9-year-old boy were transported to Delray Beach Medical Center, while a third person was taken to a local emergency room, per the newspaper.

The family of a 9-year-old girl is “shattered” after she suddenly died in her sleep, just three daysafter testing positive for COVID-19.
Makenzie Gongora, a 4th-grader from San Antonio, Texas, started feeling sick in her after-school care program on Friday, Jan. 29.
“Kenzie was complaining about a really bad headache and then they took her temperature and she had a fever,” her aunt, Victoria Southworth,told KSAT.
Makenzie’s mom, Kristle, took her to a medical center later that day to get tested for COVID-19, strep and the flu.

A 4-year-old boy has died after being beaten with a broomstick in Mobile, Ala. — and authorities claim the victim’s assailant was his 9-year-old sister.
According to a statement from Mobile Police, the fatal beating occurred on Feb. 3.
Officers were dispatched to a home that morning “in reference to a medical emergency involving a child,” the statement reads.
Police arrived to find a little boy “unresponsive inside the residence.
